Hyde Cricket Club maintained their one-point lead over Didsbury at the top of the Cheshire County Cricket League after both sides slipped to surprise defeats.
Relegation battlers Lindow chose to bat first on a roasting day on Werneth Low, with opener Stephen Price wilting for just one run from a Luke Young delivery.
However, the Wilmslow side steadied the ship with Dan Newton and Max Law – the latter in a three-hour stint at the crease – both making half-centuries before falling to the pacey left arm of James Chew.
The former Hyde United goalkeeper claimed 5-53 in his nine overs as Lindow crept to a steady 215-7 by the end of their innings.
In reply, Hyde captain Tom Partridge continued his search for fluidity with the bat this season, being skittled for a duck on his fourth ball by Jamieson Hedges.
The home side settled with a 123 partnership in almost as many minutes between the measured approach of Rian Maisuria and the aggression of Luke Young, who swatted 11 boundaries during his free-flowing knock of 92.
A comfortable 124-2 became a twitchy 140-5 as Ryan O’Brien, Charlie Barnard and Adam Worrall all fell in uncharacteristically rapid fashion.
The tail came out swinging in the heat with Andrew Jackson and Chew both cracking sixes in their brief spells with the bat, but despite a studious 23 from David Fitzimmons, Sam Battersby clean bowled him to leave Hyde on an agonising 210 all out with four balls left.
With Didsbury also losing at home to Brooklands, reigning champions Nantwich made up ground on the top two with a flawless 10-wicket win over Timperley.
There was better news on Sunday as Hyde eased through to the semi-final of the Cheshire Cup with a seven-wicket win at Division One side Bramhall.
Young and Chew were once again the leading lights, the former carrying his bat with 73-not out from 89 deliveries, while the bowler took 3-33 as Hyde restricted the home team to 163-7 in their 40 overs.
Hyde chased their total down with nine over the spare, heading back to the pavilion on 165-3.
Didsbury are also through to the last four after beating Chester Broughton Hall by 20 runs, while Lindow and Wallasey, and Timperley and Maritime will face each other for the remaining two semi-final spots in the coming weeks.
