Hyde United have re-signed fan favourite Antoine Makoli after the jet-heeled winger returned to Ewen Fields after a year out.
The Netherlands-born wide man, who turned 21 last week, initially joined the club in the summer of 2023 after leaving Wycombe Wanderers by mutual consent.
Makoli made 46 appearances for the Tigers in the 2023/24 season, 16 of them from the bench, scoring four goals in the process, including a last-gasp winner in a 1-0 victory over Basford United.
Although he didn’t break into the Wycombe first team during his year with the Chairboys, he had successful spells with Chesham United and Beaconsfield before decided to move back home.
He took a break from the game following his first stint at Hyde after struggling to adjust to life outside the professional ranks.
However, the time out has reignited the Gortonian’s love for the sport, and he returns to the club with a renewed confidence according to Tigers boss Nick Spooner: “Antoine asked to come back in and train with us having had a year away.
“He will give us another option going forward with his pace and ability to beat defenders in 1v1 situations.”
