Hyde Cricket Club is looking for a new wicket keeper after the departure of the ever-dependable Adam Worrall.
The Boltonian leaves the Werneth Low side after six seasons behind the stumps, which included a spectacular no-gloves catch in the outfield to help clinch the 2023 Cheshire Cup.
“Adam has decided to continue his cricketing journey closer to home in order to spend more time with his young family and reduce the demands of travel,” said Hyde’s new chairman, ex-skipper John Ashley.
“Adam leaves behind big shoes to fill, and everyone at Hyde CC extends their thanks and very best wishes for the future.
“The Club is now seeking a replacement wicketkeeper ahead of the 2026 Cheshire County Premier League season. Interested players should contact jashley@sky.com”
Since joining the team in 2020, Worrall notched more than 1,600 runs in league and cup matches, alongside 28 stumpings a century of catches.
He follows former captain Tom Partridge out of the door, who led Hyde to a creditable 3rd place finish in the Cheshire County Cricket League and the semi-finals of the Cheshire Cup.
Partridge’s replacement as skipper is all-rounder Andrew Jackson, who hit 754 runs and took 56 wickets last season, including a pair of fifers in consecutive weeks against Alderley Edge and Chester Boughton Hall.
A county player for Cheshire, Jackson signed from Knutsford-based Toft CC ahead of the 2022 season.
