Hyde United have landed promising striker Lewis Rawsthorn on an initial one-month loan from National League North side Radcliffe.
The forward, who turns 22 on July 28, came to prominence when he scored more than 30 goals during his second spell for Atherton LR in the North West Counties League in the 2023/24 season.
Before that he began as a midfielder for Runcorn Town before a brief spell at Barnoldswick Town.
His goalscoring feats saw him sign dual-registration forms with Radcliffe, scoring on his debut in the final game of the season as the Boro claimed the Northern Premier League (NPL) title.
Rawsthorn spent most of last season on loan with FC United, Atherton Colls and then Stalybridge Celtic, where he caught the eye of Tigers boss Nick Spooner with 13 goals and 8 assists in 30 appearances.
“He’s a great player with a great attitude,” Spooner told Six57.
“He’s one of those players who’s willing to run in behind defenders and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do, and you can tell there’s a bit of a buzz about him coming in.
“Big thanks to Radcliffe for helping us get this over the line.
“They were fantastic with the Ewan Bange loan deal and when we signed Jake Thompson from them last season, too.”
Hyde face National League newcomers Morecambe at home in their fourth pre-season friendly tonight (Tuesday July 15), before neighbours Stockport Town visit Ewen Fields on Saturday.
The NPL releases its fixture list at 2pm this Thursday.
