Four men from East Manchester have been jailed for a total of 107 years after attempting to hack and shoot their victim to death.
Michael Senghore was walking home alone when he was ambushed on Hampden Crescent, Gorton, in October 2024.
The attackers were riding e-bikes when they spotted 21-year-old Mr Senghore.
Although he tried to hide behind a tree and a van, the group soon found him and with Kellen Mongeme, 18, and 17-year-old Zak Morris, hacking at him with machetes while he attempted to escape over a garden fence.
Kavon Haselden-Hoyle, 28, then fired a shotgun round into Mr Senghore’s leg from close range as he tried to stand up, which caused such severe damage that surgeons had to amputate it.
He also suffered extensive injuries to his right hand and arm from the machetes.
Mr Senghore dragged himself into his home where a relative raised the alarm.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that the attackers deliberately left their phones at a house in Ardwick and changed their clothes in preparation to conceal their identities.

Detective Inspector Louise Edwards from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “Today, justice has been served as the four males responsible for this brutal attack have been jailed.
“The extreme level of violence used in this attack was sickening.
“The attack was carried out in broad daylight and the victim was struck repeatedly with machetes and blasted with a shotgun.
“He has been left with extremely serious life-changing injuries, including the partial loss of his leg and is lucky to be alive.
“The four perpetrators have shown no remorse throughout the investigation.
“I want to thank all officers involved in the apprehension of these dangerous individuals.
“The investigation team have worked meticulously, analysing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and reviewing call data records.
“The streets of Manchester are safer now that these men have been jailed.
“We will not tolerate such violence in our community and on our streets, and those who choose to carry firearms and knives will face the full force of the law.”
The Manchester Evening News was successful in having reporting restrictions lifted on Morris’s involvement.
