A cafe-bar has become the second Stockport drinking venue in as many days to announce its closure.
MØ6b, which opened on St Petersgate almost two years ago, will serve its final drinks on Saturday November 15.
A cafe and record shop in the day and a bar on Friday and Saturday nights, MØ6b became a cult fixture on the Stockport scene, setting itself apart from nearby traditional boozers and real ale pubs with its music takeovers.
Run by the team behind electronic label Youth, they gave no reason for the closure in an Instagram post that went live on Monday (September 29).
“For those that don’t know, we’ve decided to close MØ6b,” said the statement.
“To everyone who’s frequented the bar, all I can say is a heartfelt thanks. I’m so grateful to all who’ve come and shared the experiences, to the artists who have played and to the chefs who have cooked on the terrace.
“I’ve been speaking to people about closing and it’s been overwhelming to hear the nice things said about MØ6B and what it means to them.
“The most common bit of feedback I’ve had is how people have felt so welcome and at home, and that’s down to Rich + Kim, who I can’t thank enough (shoutout Sabina too).
“Thanks to everyone who’s been so supportive, it’ll continue in some shape or form in future…
“Actual closing date is Saturday 15th November, lots of nice things happening before then (including our 2nd birthday).”
The birthday celebrations will take place on Saturday October 11, with food from Patrick Withington of acclaimed Ancoats restaurant Erst, which the Good Food Guide describing their small plates as “ingeniously constructed”.
DJ Bottom and Lyster will be on the decks, with doors opening at 5pm.
It comes the day after the Bohemian Arts Club cocktail bar announced its closure.
Opened by Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden and his wife Katie in May 2023, it will make way after last orders this coming Friday, with Katie’s salon set to expand into the space.
